In 1989 after a long and successful tenure with Les Ballet Jazz’s Toronto School, original owners Stelio Calagias and Eileen Birks opened Metro Movement. For over a quarter of a century Metro Movement was at the centre and on the cutting edge of the Dance industry in Toronto providing training to everyone from beginners to the professionals who were performing on the grandest of stages in Toronto. In June of 2015 Stelio and Eileen passed on the torch to a new generation. Phillip Nero and Kalie Hunter are both veterans of the Dance and Musical Theatre industry in Canada and both have trained under Stelio and Eileen for years. With the new ownership came a revitalization of the studio both in atmosphere and surroundings. Metro Movement is fully renovated including the bathrooms and showers and fully computerized with Mindbody Connect. The studio also includes an in house Massage Therapist who specializes in dancers.
