Regardless if you choose The Canine Collective or not, there are certain things you need to look for in a dog walker for your furry family member. Dog walkers are governed by bylaw Chapters 349 and 608 in Ontario. What does that mean?
Firstly, commercial dog walkers must carry a valid permit if they are walking four to a maximum of six dogs at any one time. They have to keep their dogs on leash at all times, unless they are in a designated off-leash area.
They are responsible to keep the dogs under their care and control at all times, which means the walker should be focused on the dogs, not socializing with other people or distracted on their phones.
At The Canine Collective we abide by the bylaws, and walk a maximum of six dogs at any given time. In off leash spaces we have our focus on the dogs under our care, engaging the dogs with play, balls and by moving around the park at all times to ensure all dogs are getting exercised. We only take dogs off leash in designated areas and by permission of the owner.
It is important to adhere to the bylaws to ensure both the dogs and the walker have an enjoyable and safe time at The Canine Collective.
