At Muscle Body Therapy we offer:
Suikodotm — A gentle “hands-on” technique used to manage pain and musculosketetal injury. With roots in Shiatsu and Swedish massage, it combines the use of pressure points with manual vibratory pressure at specific points on the patient’s body to reduce pain and to improve joint mobility.
Swedish — The most common variety at clinics, Swedish massage combines various hands-on techniques including gliding, kneading, and cross-fiber friction to break up muscle knots.
Hot Stone — A specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones that absorb and retain heat. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles release.
Deep Tissue — A type of massage, which reaches well below the superficial fascia in an effort to relieve chronic muscle problems or injuries.
Musculoskeltal Acupuncture — This aids the effectiveness of massage treatment by strategic placement of needles during soft tissue massage. This approach can be beneficial to treating such conditions as tendinitis, headaches, back pain, pinched nerves. It is covered by massage therapy benefits.
Therapeutic ultrasound — A method of stimulating tissue beneath the skin’s surface using very high frequency sound waves for therapeutic benefit
Manual Lymphatic Drainage — Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle technique that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system, removing congestion and stagnation from within the body. The therapist works with flat hands, using all the fingers to simulate gentle, specific wave-like movements.
Reiki — The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words, Rei meaning spiritual wisdom and Ki meaning life energy. Reiki is like a therapeutic massage for the “inside” of your body. During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner places their hands directly above most organs in the body. The “life force” energy relaxes the body and mind to the point where your own immune system can work at a more optimum level. Reiki removes blockages allowing our flow of energy to be revitalized. It is effective and a perfect partner to work with all other modalities of healing such as massage, acupuncture and even prescription medicines.
Hypnosis — Our minds include the subconscious and the conscious. The subconscious mind determines much of what we do—including any of our habits. When you are in that relaxed state, there is a more effective and powerful communication that takes place with the subconscious mind, which is more open to positive suggestions.
